Quality Planning sets the parameters of the Quality Assurance Program and the process consists of:
- Assignment of a QA/QC manager to oversee each specific aspect of the project
- Determining the necessary quality expectations of the project
- Determine the standards of expected performance to meet quality expectation and ensure the proper application of specialized expertise
- Determine the standard of measurement to be used to assess achievement of quality expectations
Quality Control is the process of evaluating the effectiveness of the Quality Assurance Program in meeting quality expectations. To ensure the proper application of specialized expertise, we typically assign a QA/QC Manager to oversee each specific aspect of a project. These QA/QC managers are senior level engineers with significant experience in the specific project discipline and will serve as a clearinghouse for guidance and approval to the project team. The QA/QC Manager will conduct and lead the Review Process. SDC’s Review Process is built into the project schedule and emphasizes cost-effectiveness, constructability, operability and ease of implementation. Periodic project team evaluations will assess the team performance in accomplishing project quality standards by considering the team’s:
- Effectiveness in meeting established quality requirements
- Efficiency – staying within budget
- Timeliness – remaining on schedule
- Compliance with quality standards/constraints as stated in policies, procedures, and programs
- Teamwork
Quality Improvement is the enforcements portion of the Quality Assurance Program. Quality Improvement takes the findings of the Review Process and diagnoses those areas that may need improving. Any necessary remedies will be implemented to improve the quality of the project. The SDC Quality Assurance Program takes a global view of the project and monitors and evaluates overall personnel adherence to standard operating procedures and quality goals and objectives. Our Quality Assurance Program includes an on-going process to ensure Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) over the lifetime of the project.
